Individualized Curriculum for Students with Autism and Related Disorders

Trumpet Behavioral Health designs, develops and implements autism behavior management programs for educators and schools and is a leading provider of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). We have an excellent reputation for helping schools apply positive behavior support for students on the autism spectrum, which enhances a child’s or adolescent’s potential. At Trumpet Behavioral Health, we work with schools to:

  • Empower teachers to implement Individualized Education Program/Plan (IEP) and practical strategies to meet the needs of students with autism
  • Provide positive, evidence-based autism intervention programs compliant with IDEA sections 56520-56525
  • Provide support at Individualized Education Program/Plan (IEP) meetings and legal proceedings
  • Maintain maximum efficiency by delivering services that are time-limited with plans for fading support created at service initiation

Behavior Management in the Classroom

At Trumpet Behavioral Health, we recognize the critical nature of maintaining an organized classroom for students with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs), as well as the importance of proactive behavior management in order to achieve positive educational outcomes. Although each learner is unique, components of autism interventions are often effectively and efficiently repeated across a broad number of students. Very often it’s possible for schools to implement classroom-wide and school-wide behavior management programs and thus avoid resource-intensive individual approaches. Trumpet Behavioral Health has Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) who can help schools:

  • Design learning environments that support and enhance instruction for students on the autism spectrum
  • Apply autism behavior management techniques for making positive changes in students’ academic behavior
  • Help teachers recognize the strengths and deficits most commonly associated with autism that can positively or negatively influence student behavior
  • Modify the learning environment to prevent and manage inappropriate behaviors associated with autism
  • Direct valuable resources to the areas of greatest need

In-Class Facilitation (1:1 Shadow Support)

Increasingly, students on the autism spectrum or with special needs are participating in inclusive classroom environments. This trend has resulted in the need for more in-class support from Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) and Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analysts (BCaBAs). Trumpet Behavioral Health’s in-class shadow support program uses the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to help students with autism generalize their skills to the school environment while learning independence.

Our in-class shadow support can:

  • Play a supportive role to the teacher, so that the teacher can effectively meet the needs of all students
  • Promote an environment in which students with autism are better able to focus on and successfully complete schoolwork, engage in appropriate behavior, and share in meaningful social opportunities
  • Collaborate with the teacher for those students that may require reminders or additional instruction
  • Intervene to prevent difficult behavior
  • Assist in curriculum modification
  • Record data for use in decision-making and program evaluation
