Workshop Series: ABA and Autism- San Diego, California
Trumpet will be hosting three workshops with SDSU Center for Autism and Developmental Disorders!
Each workshop will be led by Lauren Cox. Lauren Cox is a BCBA with Trumpet Behavioral Health in San Diego. She has worked in the field for 11 years, working mostly with children in a verbal behavior clinic setting, as well as home settings. Lauren attended the University of California, Davis for her undergraduate degree and was an intern at the M.I.N.D Institute in Sacramento, CA. She received her Master’s Degree from the University of Hawaii, Manoa and completed her coursework at the Florida Institute of Technology to become a behavior analyst. Her interests include: staff and parent training, teaching learners in alternative communication systems specifically sign language acquisition, and seeing parents see their child learning new skills. She offers educational opportunities around San Diego for different organizations and companies as requested in order to disseminate the field of behavior analysis to everyone interested in learning!
Our first workshop is ABA and Autism! Lauren will provide a description of some of the common impairments with Autism as well as how Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is an effective treatment for learners with autism. We will explore what ABA is, how it can be most effective, and who all the key players are in an ABA program for your learner. ABA is an evidence based treatment with thousands or peer reviewed journal articles that display it’s vastness working with children with autism, primarily with communication deficits and problem behavior excesses.
