ASD-Friendly Event Suggestions From Team Trumpet Chicago

Chicago; a city that never ceases to have something new to do! Whether it be a pop up market, neighborhood block parties, or beach celebrations, this city constantly is creating a brand new adventure for Chicagoans to enjoy!

Our team of Board Certified Behavior Analysts embraces the opportunities that Chicago has for all individuals. Together, they have compiled the below list of autism-friendly events designed specifically for individuals with autism.

  1. Autism-Friendly Blue Man Group Performance

On Sunday, October 4th at 4PM, Blue Man Group and Autism Speaks are thrilled to be partnering to provide individuals with autism a slightly modified version of our show. The slight changes being made include reducing sound levels at select moments during the performance and making headphones available upon request. Blue Man Group will also be creating a calming environment in our lobby with bean bags, dim lights, and quiet corners for anyone seeking a sensory break from the rock and roll fun of our show! All tickets will be sold at our most affordable price of $49/a piece and $5 of every ticket purchased will be donated back to Autism Speaks.

  1. Sensory Friendly Movies

AMC Theaters across the Chicagoland area will be showing Underdogs on August 22nd, 2015, in a sensory friendly atmosphere. Participating cinemas include SFF_header (1)Galewood 14, Hobart 12, Lake in the Hills 12, Michigan City 14, Naperville 16, Niles 12, Northbrook Court 14, River East 21, Schererville 12, South Barrington 30, Village Crossing 18, and Yorktown 17. Do not miss this opportunity to get up, dance, and join the fun!

  1. Lincoln Park Zoo

Lions, tigers, and bears! Oh my! Celebrate the beautiful ending to the summer with an exciting trip to the Lincoln Park Zoo! Lincoln Park Zoo has partnered with The Autism Program of Illinois and Have Dreams to develop social guides designed to help children with an Autism Spectrum Disorder and other special needs smoothly navigate the zoo!
