In-Home Behavioral Therapy Consultation
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) In-Home Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Assessments
At Trumpet Behavioral Health, we understand that children learn best in functional, real-life natural settings. Because Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs) affect not only the child but every member of the family, we recommend in-home behavioral services. These services follow a best practice model involving behavior assessment, teaching appropriate skills, reducing challenging behaviors and providing coaching and support to those implementing the program.
We work with you to help identify why your child may be engaging in challenging behavior and to find ways to help motivate him or her to improve that behavior. We also look at the skills your child may already have and determine how to build on these skills to develop new social, communication, academic and life skills as well as other positive behaviors.
We’ll also help you identify individualized goals that will produce an immediate and meaningful change in your family life. And, we’ll work with you to develop programming that teaches these skills in a positive, fun, and effective manner.
In addition to the challenging behaviors you may face from your child, you may also face challenges from the professionals who are there to help you. This may be one of the most frustrating aspects of treatment: professionals who create unrealistic behavior plans that can’t be implemented in the real world. That’s why Trumpet Behavioral Health works with parents to create realistic behavior support plans that can be consistently used in your family’s day-to-day life.
As your child grows and develops, it’s important that the treatment program changes to reflect their maturation. Trumpet Behavioral Health provides ongoing parent coaching and support to respond to any new difficulties and to meet the changing needs of your child.
How does Trumpet Perform Individualized In-Home Autism Therapy and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
Our in-home Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) autism consultation services are designed to help you increase your child’s positive, age-appropriate behaviors. The Trumpet Behavioral Health expert will observe and assess your child to determine the causes for challenging behaviors and then will work with your family to improve your child’s ability to function independently. This may include speech and language development, gross and fine motor development and skills acquisition. You will work closely with the consultant as a team to ensure your child receives consistent messages, which ultimately lead to success and improved behavior.
Behavioral Observation Data Collection
Our Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) experts gather data about your child at every session using program sheets, often organized by task/skill. You may also see various charts and graphs that record your child’s behavior. We encourage you to review the program binder frequently and ask questions, since it is important for you to understand the goals and objectives being targeted and how your child’s responses are being documented. It’s important for you as a parent or caretaker to review the data together with your Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and use this information to modify behavior plans as necessary. This will give your child the best opportunity for success.
Behavioral Therapy Scheduling
We encourage you to pick a consistent behavioral therapy schedule for your child, based on your family’s schedule as well as that of the Trumpet Behavioral Health team. Hours per session will be determined by the needs of your child and on a case-by-case basis. Any changes to the behavioral therapy schedule must be communicated directly to your skills trainer and/or your consultant. Please advise us of any schedule changes well in advance so that appropriate alternative arrangements can be made.
